DIY Mini Forge Kit
Paint and bricks not included.
Prep the steel. Make one simple bend. Paint it. Slide it together. And you're ready to fire it up!
Base kit requires additional items: paint. 4 firebrick splits, available from hardware store or in our store.
This kit is based on our mini forge design and will fit all the mini forge accessories--stand, hood, and foundry. It includes the precut 12 gauge raw steel needed, the special cut bricks and kaowool to make a sturdy, long lasting forge that is optimally designed to burn charcoal or raw wood.
The compact size (16"x16"x9") is ideal for many projects. The inside length of the firebed is 9".
The trench shape focuses the charcoal--and the heat--at the draft line. The draft is delivered through a simple non-adjustable vented tube.
Building instructions on our website.
Consider adding:
- A hood to keep sparks off and heat in.
- Forge stand is 27" high, constructed of 1/8" thick angle for long life and stability. A Deluxe Stand has racks for tongs and an adjustible workholder.
- A blower: choose from a light duty electric fan (50 cfm) with a stomp switch that latches on/off, or the Cast Aluminum hand-crank blower (requires mounting bracket)

We are starting with very little knowledge of blacksmithing and I'm hard headed enough to prefer to learn by failing. The forge worked great! It's the smith that's needs improvement!
Brilliant, Compact Forge Kit!
Ships in a small package. You add 4 fire bricks to complete. We assembled it in about 5 minutes and forged several hooks, a fire poker and a leaf the same day. You also need to have some sort of blower to rev up the fire, tools, anvil, gloves, etc. It is, after all, a hobby.
A great way to build a forge.
This is a well-designed and fun little forge. All of the steel parts held good dimensions, and it went together perfectly after the required painting. The four thin fire brick slices used at the front and back of the forge were the only downside - all of mine were cracked. They still fit reasonably well and I can't see where they cause any problems in operation, but they really would need more robust packaging to avoid damage. The kao wool insulation seems quite effective. Once the forge is assembled, it's fairly easy to pick up and carry to a location. I'm quite pleased with it, and expect to be able to do some interesting projects.
